Rain, sunshine, & the reason why life is hard to live….

Will I ever see the light of day?

‘Oft clouds rain over my sunshine —

Will I ever dig up the courage to pray?

Knowing these days a blue bullet

Could end my bloodline…

So why do you think I put so much pressure on myself?

Sometimes I need reassurance to breathe,

Why do you think when blood spills leaves fall?

Because society has set us back from a new spring.

But that’s what makes being black so special,

Although it is a reason why life is hard to live —

I never take my black skin for granted,

Planting seeds of courage in this large abyss,

For each new day presents a new story,

But we must pick up the pen to write ,

For if we fail to live in God’s glory

They will have no problem watching you die…

So sing in the rain

& sing in the sunshine,

A tale never sung before —

Breathe in & Breathe out,

And walk by fear no more.
