Numb to the Guilt of Sin

We live our lives in constant repetition,

And in this life there are certain things we come to expect…

The sun will rise,

And as the calendar passes the moon too will overshadow us all.

And when that ivory-light shines in the darkness,

It is then, that the temptations of the World shine the brightest.

The echoes of laughter from wealthy aristocrats,

Her legs spread open for all to see,

The adulterous eye of a husband,

The calling to kill…

In all our vices, we lift up our nose and turn a blind eye.

The voice of the snake whispers in our ear…

And just like Eve, we listen.

And as we consume the ways of the World,

We are left hopeless and without.

What seemed like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow,

Was simply a reflection,

The eerie figure we’ve now become.

As rotten as fruit left out too long in the Sun.

Numb to the Guilt of Sin.
